Bookkeeping IQ is a bookkeeping tool for small businesses and individuals in Québec and across Canada. This page explains what information we hold, how we protect it, and the control you keep over it.
The financial records you enter or import — transactions, categories, entities, and the receipts and statements you upload — along with the account details needed to sign you in (your email and authentication data). We do not ask for, and never receive, your banking login. Statements are files you choose to upload, nothing more.
To provide the service: to keep your books, read receipts you submit, organize your data, and produce the reports and year-end package you ask for. We do not sell your data, and we do not use your financial records to advertise to you.
Your data is stored in the cloud, encrypted at rest and in transit. Access is scoped so that one account can never see another’s data. Every account can enable two-factor authentication, and administrative access for support is logged and visible to you in your own audit trail.
We rely on a small set of providers to run the service: cloud database and file storage, payment processing, transactional email, and the AI service that reads your receipts and statements. Each processes data only to deliver its part of the service, under its own security commitments. Some providers may process data outside Québec; we use only providers that offer adequate protection.
We keep your data for as long as your account is active, and honour deletion requests consistent with Québec and Canadian privacy expectations. Some records may be retained where the law requires it.
A person within Bookkeeping IQ is responsible for protecting your personal information. For any question about privacy, to exercise your access or correction rights, or to make a complaint, send us a message and we’ll get back to you.
